PACSSM HISTORY

Philippine Association of Central Services and Sterilization Management (PACSSM) is a leading organization in Philippines, Know more about us.

PACSSM traces its roots first to 1988 with its forerunner, the Central Services and Sterilization Association of the Philippines or CSSAP. But the organization did not last long as most of its members left for overseas.It was only after a decade – 1999 to be exact – that CSSAP was revived and reorganised into what it is today: PACSSM, or the Philippine Association of Central Services and Sterilisation Management. The Association was formally re-organized last June 3, 1999 with 10 Metro Manila hospitals participating in a meeting which was headed by Ms. Melanie Ann Alcantara. First election was held last August 18, 1999 and the list of officers that was elected were:

Its vision is to be the lead organisation in advocating the highest quality CSSD standards and practices among healthcare facilities in the Philippines. Its mission is to actively promote the standardisation of CSSD techniques and practices through continuing education, training, research and publication, in collaboration with other healthcare partners and stakeholders.
For over 2 decades, PACSSM has stood in the forefront of efforts to uplift and sustain the sterilisation management function in the country. Now, PACSSM remains steadfast in realising its vision and mission, even in the face of various challenges and opportunities that abound both locally and internationally.

To actively promote the standardization of CSSD techniques and practices through continuing education, training, research and publication, in collaboration with other healthcare partners and stakeholders.

MISSION STATEMENTS

  1. The promotion and protection of health and welfare of costumers and healthcare workers through adherence to standards of professional practice.The formulation, development and implementation of techniques and standards of practice.
  2.  The promotion of exchange of ideas among hospital Central Service Department 
  3. The conduction of continuing education programs to enhance professional and personal growth of all CSS personnel.
  4. The promotion and dissemination of knowledge and information concerning techniques and operation in hospital Central Services.
  5. The assistance and conduction of research programs in hospital
  6.  The formation of a collective representation to suppliers/manufacturers and other institutions to ensure the safe and best quality medical – surgical supplies and equipment.
  7. The participation in various multidisciplinary programs related to hospital Central Service functions.
  8. Publishing newsletters, booklets, articles, and other educational materials related to Central Service.
